Jama Masjid
Built by Shah Jahan,
Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in India. Completed in
1658 this Mosque has three gateways and two 40m high
minarets. If you go to the top of the minaret, you will be
able to have a bird's eye view of the city of Delhi.
Nizam - ud - Din Shrine
This tomb of the
famous sufi saint Nizam-ud-din Auliya can be seen on the
way from Humayun's tomb. Inside the premises there is a
tank surrounded by many other tombs. The shrine also has
the tomb of the great poet and philosopher Amir Khusru and
the grave of Shah Jahan's daughter Jahanara.
ISKCON Temple
Built on a hilly place
this temple is dedicated to the Lord Krishna. This complex
is elegantly build and is one of the largest temple
complexes in India. Among the contemporary temple
architecture, ISKCON Temple is a wonderful specimen of
art. This complex temples are a very popular tourist
destination of Delhi.
Chattarpur Mandir
Located beyond the
Qutab Minar in Mehrauli, this complex of temples is
dedicated to Goddess Durga. Build in South Indian style
the temple complex is spread over a large area with
beautiful lawns and
gardens. During the "navratras"
devotees come from near and far.
Lakshmi Narayan Temple
Build by G. D. Birla
in 1938 this beautiful temple is located in the west of
Connaught Place. The temple is dedicated to the goddess of
wealth and prosperity. The temple has fascinating gardens
and lawns. Popularly known as the Birla Mandir, the temple
is one of the finest architectural specimen of India.
