Republic Day, Delhi |
|
|
|
If you are in New
Delhi on the 26th of January, make sure that you see the
Republic Day procession. This is one of the most colorful
and prestigious national festival and the presence of
dignitaries like the President of India, the Prime
Minister of India, Union Ministers and foreign delegates
make the celebrations very dignified. The chief attraction
of the republic day ceremony is the full display of
India's military might. Thousands of soldiers selected to
represent different regiments march down the road from
India Gate and the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The President of
India receives the salute.
Soldiers smartly
attired in their uniform marching to the tune of military
bands is a sight to behold. Ruthless military machines
like battle tanks and armored corps too are on display.
India has progressed technologically and has developed
sophisticated missile systems that can hit military
installations with pin-point precision. You can also see
some of these missiles. Indian Air Force too is very much
involved in the parade. You will see some Jaguar Squadron,
Sukhoi Squadron, Mig Multi-Role Fighters and Mirage-2000s
fly past. Personnel's of the Indian Navy too participate
in the function.
After the military
march-past, you will see some colorful performances by
various school children. Different states are represented
by tableaus highlighting the best that the state has to
offer. There are also different groups that perform
traditional Indian dance forms. Among the many festivals
that you will see in Delhi, the Republic Day celebration
is truly secular and showcases the best that India has to
offer.
